Lavender Town

The Lavender Town Syndrome  was a peak in suicides and illness of children between the ages of 7-12 shortly after the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, back in February 27, 1996.

Rumors say that these suicides and illness only occurred after the children playing the game reached Lavender Town, whose theme music had extremely high frequencies, that studies showed that only children and young teens can hear, since their ears are more sensible.

These were just rumors and were not proven to be true, however given certain circumstances children playing with headphones did receive headaches. The game which had these high frequencies was quickly taken off the market.

The Pokémon anime, also known as "the anime" by Pokémon fans, is a term referring to currently 806 main series episodes, 16 movies, and a number of side-story episodes, all focusing on Pokemon. The majority of these focus on Ash Ketchum, a Pokemon trainer from Pallet Town, and his journey toward his dream of becoming a Pokemon Master, his many friends, and most especially his Pokémon, who he considers his partners and friends.Though the anime is ultimately based upon the games and draws heavily from them, many concepts which are only touched on the games are spun in a unique way, and expanded on.Apart from the anime there has been 14 movies made.
